"Quad erat demonstrandum."

Bye bye sun.

A plane cruising in over Iho beach, Jeju-si.

A whole lot of nothing much - the view from Mount Halla.

back in business

It looks like President Roh Moo-Hyun's policy cronies have finally got round to having a look at that Korean Constitution thing the commoners are always banging on about, namely Article 21(2):

Licensing or censorship of speech and the press, and licensing of assembly and association may not be recognized.

So, Eastern Seoul is back in business, and I can finally tell you, blistering and peeling, that we had an awesome week in Jeju-do, taking in beaches, quad-biking (twice), mountain hiking, a footie match (Korea 3 - Australia 1; Be The Reds!), not to mention the occasional beer. The second quad trip, ragging it along the roads around U-do, was the clear highlight though, and comes with a big fat ES seal of approval should any of you find yourself on a tiny sub-tropical island just off another sub-tropical island about 100 miles from a country with a tourist industry based entirely on the fact that it hosted the Olympics 16 years ago. The weather was amazing, despite Typhon Namtheun loitering over Japan and shooting us menacing glances over the Pacific. So amazing, in fact, that when I hit the corner shop for some bog roll last night, the owner peered at the giant lobster rooting around the toiletries for a few moments, and said "... Jeju-do?".

Crazy Wendy finally got sacked, spectacularly, after shooting a stream of abuse at Marcy without any provocation whatsoever. The time between this event and her scheduled departure from the country was pretty tense, given that she is capable of anything - when she thought (erroneously, it now emerges) that another teacher had been moving her stuff around, she threw paint over his car and made threatening calls to his mobile. Creepy.
